Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) works with multicultural teams of qualified, specialized and motivated gynecologists/obstetricians.

Our maternity units and surgical projects deliver high-quality care, with internationally standardized protocols, hygiene procedures, technical platforms and medical products. As a gynecologist/obstetrician on an MSF field assignment, you will work with local and international colleagues to diagnose and treat medical conditions not commonly found in Canada, often without the resources you may be accustomed to having on hand.

You can expect to perform both emergency and planned ob-gyn surgeries, manage obstetric complications (such as instrumental deliveries), manage post-operative follow-ups, and train and support both surgical and midwifery staff. The length of MSF field assignments for gynecologists/obstetricians ranges between six to 12 weeks.

Our need for gynecologists/obstetricians is increasing, and our ability to recruit qualified caregivers is crucial for the success of our medical projects. Our professional international staff members provide essential expertise that greatly improves the overall care we provide to our patients, and they play a critical role in training and sharingknowledge with local doctors. MSF is in particular need of female gynecologists/obstetricians, as we do have gender constraints in some specific contexts.

Whether you just finished your residency or you are mid-career and looking for new personal and professional challenges — and if you always dreamed about making a difference where it's needed most — please complete the form below to learn more about working in the field with MSF as a gynecologist/obstetrician .
